Interruption of Electricity on February 7

January, 31 2024

Dear Community members and residents,

Hydro-Québec is scheduling an interruption of electricity supply to our Community, Wednesday, February 7, 2024. The interruption should last between 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In the event of bad weather, the interruption will be postponed until the next day, Thursday, February 8.

This interruption is mandatory to install equipment that will improve electrical service. The whole Community will be affected by this planned interruption. Most customers will be contacted by the Hydro-Québec services by phone.

The Shaaptuan will be open for Community members and lunch will be provided.

Please note that all CNN buildings will be closed for the day.

Preparing for an outage or a planned service interruption

In winter, your home can become uncomfortable when the heating is off. It’s a good idea to preheat your home by turning up your thermostats by a few degrees about one hour before the service interruption is scheduled to begin.

Thinking of using generators or portable stoves designed for outdoor use or fuel-burning backup heaters or lights? Be aware that they can cause asphyxiation or poisoning if used inside, because they have no exhaust system to evacuate carbon monoxide. This equipment should only be used outdoors.

Small things you can do to help Hydro-Québec with service restoration

  • Unplug all electronics, such as computers, TVs and chargers, to prevent any overvoltage-related damage when service is restored.
  • Avoid opening the fridge or freezer but do not unplug them. A full freezer will keep food frozen for 24 to 36 hours if the door remains closed.
  • Even if the water pressure is unchanged, don’t use the hot water.
